Expert Sleepers ES-10 is a new DC-coupled 8-in/8-out ADAT interface module for Eurorack with an expandability option.
Many large audio interfaces today can expand the I/O via ADAT sockets. This means you can quickly turn your 8-channel into a 16-channel without buying a new interface. For example, the new Arturia AudioFuse X8 In and Out could be a good choice.
If you want to expand your interface into the Eurorack world via ADAT, Expert Sleepers now offers a handy module.
Expert Sleepers ES-10
The ES-10 is a new 12HP DC-coupled ADAT interface module with eight inputs and eight outputs. Each input can be individually selected for modular or line-level operation. This feature is neat as it instantly provides the proper signal level for your Eurorack or recording system.
According to Expert Sleepers, it uses AKM ‘VELVET SOUND’ DACs and ADCs and low noise audio op-amps for the best possible sound quality.
Thanks to its DC-coupled characteristic, you can use the inputs and outputs for both audio and CV signals. For example, you can route CV signals directly from Ableton Live.
It is important to note that the ES-10 requires an audio interface with ADAT connectivity. Otherwise, it doesn’t work. Further, you can expand the ES-10 module with more outputs using the Expert Sleepers ES-5 expander module.
Unlike the ES-3/6/7 modules with similar feature sets, it has less HP and depth, consumes less power, has better audio quality (lower noise), and has an option for line-level input.
First Impression
At first glance, it’s a nice addition to the expert Sleepers audio interface lineup. A clever module for routing audio in and out and routing CVs from DAWs like Ableton Live or Bitwig on your rack.
Expert Sleepers ES-10 is available soon for $359.
