Audiospillage Drumspillage 2.1 update brings the popular drum plugin back from the dead with new features, Apple Silicon support, and more.

If you work a lot with plugins, you have to be aware that the day will come when a plugin will no longer be supported. This is because a developer quit the business or general support was dropped for the operating system.

Many users also assumed this was the case with the plugins from the English developer Audiospillage. Well, dead doesn’t always mean dead. Here is the proof. Audiospillage raised again from the dead and published a major update for its excellent drum Synthesizer Drumspillage.

DrumSpillage is a drum Synthesizer plugin with 12 different drum models that covers a variety of synthesis techniques, including virtual analog, physical modeling, and FM synthesis. Here is an overview of the structure of the different channels:

  • bass drum: dual analog oscillators, multiple waveforms with FM
  • bass drum 2: analog-sounding kick drums with full control over pitch, decay, and transient attack
  • snare drum: fully customizable from classic TR sounds to modern snares
  • wood drum delivers natural and synthetic timbres from rim-shots to congas
  • synth clap with control over noise source, clap speed, and ambiance tail
  • cow bell: modeled bell sounds with multiple oscillator shapes, overtone, edge, filter, partials, and q control
  • clave: dual oscillator + noise combination tuneable with unique flam and presence controls
  • hi-hat with precision control over dual-filters, oscillators, and noise generators
  • cymbal: rich source of metallic cymbal and percussion sounds featuring dynamic filter control
  • membrane: modeled after a suspended metal membrane: inharmonic sound clouds and glass-like timbres
  • noise drum: 4-band pass filtered noise oscillators with variable Q, pitch, and lo-fi effects. Now with sine generators
  • FM percussion: mini FM synth for percussions, including sub-bass to snares

All this supports a pretty intensive modulation engine. You get four LFOs with cross-modulation and four customizable envelopes for every sound. Plus, you can modulate your sounds with MIDI velocity.

Update 2.1

Yes, the big news. Drumspillage 2.1 is out now, and it’s a free update for existing users, the first update in ten years.

Drumspillage 2.1 now has native Apple Silicon support for Apple M computers. That’s not all. Audiospillage also added a new export to wav/AIFF functionality for kids and pads to the plugin. There are also new preset kits/pads and an all-new preset menu browser.

Further, the engine now offers a velocity modulation on/off switch and color highligtning modulation and velocity controls. Besides this, Audiospillage has improved the engine and workflow. Plus, he fixed various bugs over the last 10 years.

First Impression

Risen from the Dead fits perfectly with this release. I’m very happy to see that Drumspillage is back on modern computers. It’s a powerful drum synth with tons of options that is finally back.

Audiospillage Drumspillage 2.1 is available now for an introductory price of 76€ instead of 109€ (30% OFF). The update is free of charge for existing users. It runs as a VST and AU plugin exclusively on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel).
