Raw Yaw Media Torus is a new quad looper module that brings DAW recording workflows (pitch shifting, reversing…) to Eurorack.

A modular Synthesizer is super versatile. You can work with various oscillators and quickly familiarise yourself with other synthesis concepts. No oscillators are also possible. Samplers allow you to work with your favorite samples in a modular way.

A hybrid is a looper that allows you to loop various sound sources (oscillators, samples…) and use them to create new sound sources or create complete compositions, also in Eurorack. There is a new hands-on quad looper from Raw Yaw Media that could satisfy your looper desire for Eurorack.

Torus is a new flexible quad audio looper for your rack. You can feed incoming stereo audio to four channels (a,b,c,d), playback, and loop them. Good, even with a mono sound, Torus flips your audio in stereo.

The red button sets the recording on and lets you capture loops. Alternatively, you can use a CV to activate the recording. Once recorded, Loops are on 16-step patterns that always run in sync with the internal or external clock.

From here, you can adjust your loop’s playback speed (pitch). Torus offers unique playback speeds, including both clock multipliers and perfect intervals. You can also use the tap button for tapping in tempos for the internal clock.

A feature highlight is the ability to chain different loop sequences from the four channels together. By pressing the chain button, you can then record a sequence with up to 16 steps using the buttons of the four channels. Of course, you can also delete or overdub them on the fly.

The mix parameter lets you crossfade between the input signal and the recorded pattern. Raw Yaw Media says it’s designed to bring DAW recording workflows (sample reversing, pitch shifting, sequencing…).

Further, it features a variety of CV/gate connectivity, giving a lot of flexibility. For example, it has a gate out so you get a gate signal every time your sequence resets.

First Impression

Torus looks like a clever quad looper module with a straightforward design.

Raw Yaw Media Torus is available soon for 449€.
