The new Korg drumlogue 1.2.0 firmware improves the workflow, fixes bugs, and upgrades the Sinevibes Nano user synth with more features
In September 2022, Korg introduced the drumlogue, a drum machine/drum synth with both analog and digital synthesis. For the first time, the digital engine is based on a new generation of the popular SDK Logue engine that offers more power.
Each drumlogue also comes with the Nano Synth pre-installed, a Synthesizer plugin developed in collaboration with the Ukrainian company Sinevibes. The new firmware 1.2.0 is out now with some improvements and fixes. The highlight, however, is a beefed-up Nano user synth.
Korg drumlogue 1.2.0
First, the less exciting one. The new drumlogue 1.2.0 firmware is free of charge and fixes several bugs:
- issues with some special characters in sample/program/kit/unit file names when transferring files to/from a computer.
- problem with tempo synced delays when drumlogue is clocked externally.
- issue where the current tempo was not saved properly after a CLEAR ALL PATTERN operation.
- display issue when changing a step from TIE to RACHET on the MULTI
- various other minor bug fixes
Then, you can benefit from several improvements. For example, you can now navigate between bars when in clear step motion mode. According to Korg, they also improved the overall MIDI latency on the drumlogue.
However, the highlight of this update is the new beefed-up version of the Sinevibes Nano user synth, making it more versatile than before. First, you can now reset the oscillator phase with new trigger events. That’s a nice addition.
There is also something new to explore in the filter section: a new band-reject (notch) filter type. Also new are three new distortion algorithms (hard, crush, shred), allowing you to add crunch and warmth to your Nano sounds. I don’t need to write that these effects sound excellent. We know the quality of Sinevibes.
Further, some of the functions got a makeover:
- improved motion sequencing of envelope parameters
- improved oscillator quality in the lower key range
- increased oscillator detune range to -36… + 36 semitones
- recalibrated oversampling for a slightly brighter sound
Korg drumlogue 1.2.0 First Look
Sinevibes already previewed the new Nano Synth update at Superbooth 23. Here is an interview with Artemiy Pavlov and a demo of the new version.
First Impression
Thumbs up for the update. The new distortion effects fit the Nano Synth very well. They give the Synthesizer a more interesting aggressive sound and let it dive into acid-style territory.
The new Korg drumlogue 1.2.0 firmware is a free update for existing users. drumlogue is available now for $599/599€.
