TAL-Bassline-101 3.8.1 is out now, a free update with engine refinements, a 12dB filter mode, and a distortion FX for crunching up your sounds.

The Roland SH-101 is one of the most legendary monophonic synthesizers. It has been used in countless tracks. Unsurprisingly, there are countless emulations of it, even from Roland itself. One of the most popular and affordable is the TAL-Bassline-101 from the Swiss developer TAL.

Unlike Roland’s emulation from the Cloud, TAL’s Bassline-101 goes beyond the actual feature set. For example, you can drive the filter into FM areas using the dedicated buttons. Another cool addition is the SH-101-style sequencer. With version 3.8.1, there is now a nice update with further new features.

Update 3.8.1 for the TAL-BassLine-101 3.8.1 is free of charge. Once updated you can benefit from some improvements and additions in the engine. On the improvement side, TAL has refined the VCO and the filter oversampling to sound even better and more accurate.

New in version 3.8.1 are two features. Besides the regular recreation of the 24dB/Oct filter, the new version adds a 12dB filter mode, expanding the range of sounds of it. Then, you can also explore a new bandlimited distortion FX available on the left corner of the UI.

Talking about UI, the update also includes improvements to the UI and a fix for the sub-oscillator II waveform. If you don’t know the plugin yet, here’s a feature overview

Features

  • authentic emulation of the Roland SH-101 and its raw sound
  • user-friendly GUI
  • recreation of the 24dB/oct filter, a new 12dB/oct mode, and filter FM
  • precise envelope modeling

First Impression

Excellent update for TAL-Bassline-101. I’m pleased that TAL continues to maintain the plugin as it did in the beginning. Big like.
