Glitchmachines has released Subvert 2.0, major update turns the experimental processor into a modular multi-fx plugin.
Effects can refine sounds, but they can also turn them completely upside down. The latter are mostly complex effects that are more than just a classic reverb or delay.
A nice example is Glitchmachines. Ivo Ivanov is a developer of experimental plugins that go far beyond classic processors. His Suvert experimental distortion plugin has now received a major 2.0 update.
Glitchmachines Subvert 2.0
Subvert 2.0 is a complete makeover of the original plugin. Ivo of Glitchmachines says version 2.0 has been redesigned from the ground up.
Like Subvert 1.0, it’s a multi-fx plugin consisting of a multimode distortion, FM ring mod, digitizer, metalizer, and a multimode filter. Version 2.0 revises the effects algorithms and adds a new dynamics effect processor and a noise generator.
The plugin made the most significant creative step in the workflow. Subvert 2.0 introduces a new modular patching system You can patch the effects and functions like a modular synth. So it’s more versatile and flexible than the previous version.
Further, it adds new LFOs with 15 waveforms, and new macros. Another exciting feature is the ability to work with new feedback paths, which is very experimental
Lastly, you get a scalable user interface and can play with 100 new factory presets. Subvert is an effect plugin for everyone who would like to change the character of the signal creatively or even completely destroy it. And also for all those who are bored with classic distortions.
First Impression
For me, it’s a big update that completely changes the whole effect plugin. The modular engine makes it much crazier and deeper than version 1. Big like for this update.
Glitchmachines Subvert 2.0 is available now for $69. It runs as a 64-bit only VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (Intel + native Apple Silicon) and Windows. Existing customers of Subvert 1.0 can upgrade for $20.
