Constructs of Time Gradient is a new virtual instrument for Kontakt Player based on deeply multi-sampled modular synth setups.

In the software world, many synthesizers are released as plugins. It’s the most popular format because you can easily plug it into any DAW. Other platforms, such as iOS or Kontakt, are just as enjoyable. Yes, in Kontakt, there are not only huge sample-based orchestra libraries.

Rarer than in the plugin area, developers enrich us with exciting synthesizers for Kontakt. Just recently Constructs of Time has published a new polyphonic Synthesizer instrument for Kontakt Player based on multi-sampled modular synth setups. The aim was to capture the raw and organic sound of analog.

A Eurorack modular system and a modified Arp Avatar are deeply multi-sampled to create powerful mono and wide stereo sound sources. Think tube-saturated sine waves, chorused saw waves, noisy pulse width modulation, and powerful ring modulation. Gradient’s filters, modulation sources and effects further shape the sound.

The clean and minimal interface makes sound design fast and intuitive. All controls are carefully selected and calibrated, resulting in a big sweet spot.

Gradient comes with 190+ production-ready presets, covering from cinematic pads to deep basses and punchy stabs. NKS compatibility provides a seamless hardware experience. The controls are tailored to each preset for an optimal hands-on feel.

First Impression

Constructs of Time kindly sent me a pre-release version. A very high-quality library in terms of sound. It is nice that it is a flexible instrument. Libraries are often very tied to the presets. Gradient, however, gives you the freedom to create your own sounds thanks to built-in waves, filters, etc.
