Popular free reverb plugin TAL Reverb 4 gets a big free 4.0.2 update with a new UI, Lo-Fi section, dampening, and more.

You don’t have to spend money on a high-quality reverb plugin in 2022. My favorite free reverb is the fabulous ValhallaDSP Supermassive which was updated yesterday to version 2.5 with two additional flexible algorithms. It is capable of generating effects that range from classic to extraordinary intergalactic.

If you like it more classic, I can recommend the free reverb from the Swiss developer TAL, also one of my personal favorites. This also sounds great and goes more in the direction of vintage reverbs. As if both developers had agreed, there is also news here. TAL Reverb 4 in version 4.0.2 is here and brings some great new features.

TAL Reverb 4 Update 4.0.2

With version 4.0.2, Togu Audio Line (TAL) presets a big update for its popular free vintage-inspired plate Reverb 4. Besides a total makeover of the user interface, the developers have given the engine a complete overhaul.

The plugin now comes with an improved reverb quality resulting in better results. On top, they have improved the pitch shifter quality for the tune section of the plugin.

Users can not only benefit from good improvements, but also from major engine extensions. The engine now comes with a dampening (DAMP) functionality that allows you to create more smooth reverb tails. Then, it has all-new bit depth and sample rate controls. With these, you can degrade the sound quality and thus introduce artifacts for more vintage, dirty reverb effects.

Otherwise, everything has stayed the same: you get the controls over the size, delay, diffuse, stereo, ducking, dry/wet, and more. Also onboard is the EQ section with low and high cut parameters. Reverb 4 in version 4.0.2 also comes with new and updated presets. Glad to see the journey of the free Reverb 4 plugin continues. Even more that it grows in features. I have to take a closer look at the days. Thanks, TAL.
