Superbooth 22: Korg NTS-2 is a DIY multi-functional tool that is bundled with BJOOKS new Patch & Tweak with Korg book with tutorials and interviews.
The Korg NTS-1 is a fascinating digital Synthesizer that can do a lot for little money. It’s DIY and thanks to its multi-engine nature, you can replace oscillators and effects with new ones, which makes the synth super versatile.
Korg is known for making more unique products every now and then. This is the case again for the Superbooth 22. Here they present the all-new NTS-2 bundled with the new Patch & Tweak with Korg book by Bjooks aka Kim Bjørn.
Superbooth 22 Korg NTS-2
The Korg NTS-2 is not the successor to the NTS-1. So no NTS-1 with more voices and a screen. No, the NTS-2 is a handy multi-functional tool for Synthesizer friends. Made for keyboard players, mini synth users, and modular tweakers alike.
Like the NTS-1, the NTS-2 is easy to assemble without soldering or DIY skills. With a few clicks and screws, the small PCB-based box is assembled in a few minutes. And there is quite a lot in this new white box.
NTS-2 is a 4-channel oscilloscope with color display but expanded with some nifty additions. It has two stereo inputs on the back giving you in a total of 4 channels. There is a spectrum analyzer function with a frequency range between 20 Hz and 20kHz.
In addition to an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, the NTS-2 is also a 2-channel waveform generator that can either output audio singals or control voltages. You can choose between sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, noise, pulse, and envelope. In this way, any Synthesizer with patching points can easily be expanded to include two additional oscillators or LFOs, envelopes, triggers, etc.
All this can be operated either with batteries or via USB-C using a power bank. A big thanks goes to the Korg developers for USB-C connection. That micro-USB on the NTS-1 is anything but perfect. A very cool little box.
Bjooks Patch & Tweak With Korg
For the release, Korg teams up with Kim Bjørn from BJOOKS and bundles the new NTS-2 with the new Patch & Tweak with Korg book. It will be Kim’s second book release this year.
“Patch & Tweak with KORG is a new hard-cover book that focuses on sound design with KORG and ARP synthesizers. Including in-depth tutorials for the MS-20 (mini), ARP 2600 M, volca modular and the SQ-1/SQ-64 sequencers. It also has a big part dedicated to the new NTS-2 with numerous application examples spreaded over multiple chapters.
Further, you get an illustrated look at the story of individual synthesizers and their manufacturers KORG and ARP. In the way that Kim Bjørn always does in his books. With many high-resolution pictures, a lot of additional information, etc. Plus, you get interviews from international Korg artists as well as no less inspiring conversations with the minds behind some of the most successful KORG and ARP synthesizers ever.
Pete Townshend, Jean-Michel Jarre, Richard Devine, Andrew Huang… Fumio Mieda, Tatsuya Takahashi, Dina Pearlman, David Friend…
A nice bundle that Korg and Bjooks have put together here. Every Synthesizer player can use a portable oscilloscope, and it’s even better to come with a fully-illustrated learning course. Plus, you get patch tutorials and a history recap of two legendary synthesizer companies. Very cool.
Korg NTS-2 and Bjooks Patch & Tweak with Korg will be available in August 2022 in a limited bundle for a price of 229€.
