Erica Synths dedicates its new Eurorack K-Phaser aka Krautrock Phaser effect module to the pioneers of electronics music.
Electronic music has a long history. The important representatives of early electronic music were Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and others. Music that is known and loved today as Krautrock.
An important part of these sounds is the phaser effect. Klaus Schulze used for example the Schulte Compact Phasing, an analog stereo phase made in Germany in the early 70s by Gerd Schulte Audio. Now, there is a Krautrock-inspired phaser module for Eurorack.
Erica Synths Black K-Phaser
The Black K-Phaser is Erica Synths’ unique take on the classic Krautrock phaser design. It uses a newly designed circuit that is based on the original concept with 8 all-pass filters with photo-resistors but upgraded with features from the modular world. This includes a complete redesign of the filters and modulation circuit.
These brings several addition. You can choose between a classic and a spread mode using the dip switch that sets the number of filter stages involved in the resonance path. The spread mode detunes the all-pass filters for even more unique behaviour. There is also a resonance attenuverter. Erica Synths promises never-heard-before feedback artefacts using this addition.
Further, it has a built-in voltage-controlled multi-wave LFO for either modulating the phaser or external signals. The module offers a mono input, CV control over the LFO & resonance and dedicated outputs for the main and wet signal.
Delays, reverb and distortion are among the must have effects for a Eurorack system. A phaser is certainly exotic, but I find the idea of offering this as a Eurorack module very welcomed.
Erica Synths Black K-Phaser starts shipping right after Christmas on December 27th, 2021 and will be available soon for 190€ + VAT + shipping.
