Erica Synths announced today that the DB-01 Bassline Synthesizer, which they presented very surprisingly at NAMM 2020, can now be pre-ordered.
What Erica Synths shows us here is the way I love product developments. They don’t copy a well-known bassline synth from the past but develop one that fits their company DNA. The DB-01 does a lot different than the legendary Roland Bassline Synth and that’s good. To be honest, a clone would not have suited to ES because it is too “normal” in the sound.
The DB-01 features Erica Synths’ signature analog sound engine with an advanced sequencer on top of it. More exactly: an aggressive Acidbox filter design, one-knob overdrive, transistor-based sub-oscillator, BBD based detune, FM level amount, noise and much more. These features promise one thing: no boring sounds but those that will be remembered: classic basslines, rave sounds, massive drones, drums and more.
In addition to this fully analog sound engine, it comes with a very playable sequencer including arpeggiator, modulation track and pattern randomization. For everyone who wants to go deeper into melodies, there are also user-defined scales with micro-tonal possibilities built-in.
