German ambient musician Substan recently released DigiTales. It’s a new sound library for the Elektron Digitone FM synthesizer. For me, it’s one of the easiest to use FM synthesizers. This is mainly due to the fact that it combines FM sound generation with a classic subtractive synthesis signal flow. And many of the cumbersome features have been simplified and put into a hands-on instrument,
Substan also shows what the Digitone is capable of in terms of sound in his new library Digitales. It features 100 new lively and organic sounds inspired by nature. The library includes dynamically playable pads, textures, arpeggios, E-pianos, plucks, bass, and more. Most of them also make use of the modulation wheel and aftertouch.
Substan is not only a sound designer but also produces very good music. If you like ambient and downtempo music you should check out his Bandcamp. For example, I enjoyed the generated memories EP from 2019. A nice mix of Psybient, chill, and IDM elements.
The Substan Digitales library is available now for 10€+ and is compatible with the Elektron Digitone and Digitone Keys,
