With the new update, the Percussa SSP becomes a Linux (ARM) VST host, features a new QuadVCA VST plugin, new bit-crusher effect and more!

Massive update for the Percussa SSP eurorack module. The new version let you host VST’s in your Eurorack system. Sounds amazing but has one obstacle. These VST must be compiled in a more uncommon plugin format: VST2/VST3 for Linux (ARM compiled). For those who have been looking forward for Serum in Eurorack, unfortunately it’s not the case now. But it’s a big feature as there are some developers who have Linux support already like U-he plugins from Berlin.

In order to be able to use these plugins in an intuitive way, there is now an option to design your own interface for the respective plugin for the Percussa SSP module. To illustrate this with a practical example, the developer has released a QuadVCA VST plugin which is open-source. Beside this, they has also added a new bitcrusher module to the system. An exciting new update for the SSP and looking forward what plugins or other new features we will see for the SSP in 2018/2019.

What Is The Percussa SSP?

The Percussa Super Signal Processor (SSP) Eurorack Module is a powerful Eurorack module by Percussa, a brand of Noisetron LLC. It is based on one of the most powerful quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processors currently available, running an optimized linux mainline (v4) kernel, custom DSP software and professional audio I/O drivers.

New in Update 30072018

  • ST2 / VST3 Support + New VST module – The SSP can now host VST2 and VST3 plugins. The software automatically creates a “plugins” directory on your card where you can put VST plugins. Note that the VSTs must be compiled for linux / armhf, not the more common Mac/Windows platforms.
  • QuadVCA VST Plugin – The Quad VCA has 8 input and 8 output channels. It takes channels [1,2], [3,4], [5,6] and [7,8] and multiplies the channels and then outputs the result through channels 1, 3, 5, and 6. Output channels 2, 4, 6, and 8 are the inverted versions of the output signals.
  • BitCrusher module – the bit crusher has an input for the signal to crush, and one output. It has bits and rate parameters / modulation targets.
  • Module Picker – If you navigate in the patcher grid and press encoder 1, you will now go to the module selection screen. You can navigate in the module picker using the encoders or cursor keys and press encoder 1 or 2 to confirm your selection.
