Native Instruments Reaktor 6 User Library – October Roundup

SYNTH ANATOMY uses affiliation & partner programs (big red buttons) to finance a part of the activity. If you use these, you support the website. Thanks!

Zarlyno – Chordal oscillator by Emanuele Maraschini

Zarlyno is a new chordal oscillator for the Reaktor 6 Block systems that allows you apply paraphonic synthesis.

Four multimode oscillators play just-tempered chords, conveniently picked with the very rotation a couple of knobs. Voices don’t overlap and can glide polyphonically. Separate outs are provided for the 4 oscillators.  Or you might just hack your way in and extract the pitch signals, in order to fuel your own synth…

P’PD and S’PD and D’PD – Phase-distortion Synthesizers by John Bleech

P’PD, S’PD and D’PD are phase-distortion synthesizers employing the phase-distortion oscillator (core) of Benjamin Poddig which is modeled on the oscillator of the CZ5000 Cosmosynth from Casio. S’PD is somewhat similar to a one-oscillator Casio CZ, but none of the three ensembles is an emulation of a Casio CZ5000.

In S’PD there are three separate Multi-BP envelopes: one to modulate the phase-distortion, one to modulate the pitch, and one to modulate the amp output. I also added an optional low-note-retrigger mode (LNR). D’PD is S’PD with an added oscillator (DCW). In D’PD both oscillators share the same Multi-BP envelopes.
In P’PD the amplifiers are controlled using AHDSR envelopes; the amount of phase-distortion (and/or the pitch) is modulated with a single multi-breakpoint envelope, one for each oscillator.

SELTSAM – Sample player with unique library by Nick Dwyer

Seltsam is a sample player with an unique library that includes rhythmic, textures and dripping with atmosphere.

Utilising a deliberately random multi-tracking in Ableton of Komplete instruments and FX I made a number of samples that had a core key yet little sense of musical beauty. The wavs were then treated to Audacity’s range of FX and “Create DTMF Tone” etc. to add some random structures. Going against the grain of creating balanced sounds the aim was to get surprising individual samples that could become the germ of a new tune or kick-off an improvisation into unexpected musical areas.

The results are rhythmic, textured and dripping with atmosphere. Here they are all racked up in a Blocks player. Thanks to Michael Hetrick for the sample looper!

Wave-4 – Single-Cycle Mixing Block by Jonathan Tremblay

Wave-4 allows you to mix for different single-cycle waveforms together.

For Single-Cycle Waveform creation, or Wavetables in general, I whole heartedly recommend WaveEdit. It’s a surprisingly powerful free program Waveedit

SumSynth Oscillator & Fat Oscillator by Pierre-Andre Soulier

A block version of the oscillator of the Sum Synth, from the library. This an additive, but monophonic oscillator.

Fat Oscillator is a superwave oscillator with saw and pulse waveform.

Seamonger One – Synth with lots of randomization by Simon Götz

Seamonger One is a synth with a colourful designed interface  that features oscillators that starts from a sine wave and can be shaped towards saw and square waves. LFO’s can modulate each other which allows also for modulation feedback for even more irregularity. Most parameters have an adjustable amount of random modulation (drift) that can be weighted globally with the “MOJO” knob.

Due to the randomness more voices sound thick quite quickly. You can reduce the instrument’s (not the knob in the GUI, in the settings) voices to reduce CPU load.

As usual, a big thanks to the Reaktor 6 community for creating all these amazing instruments and blocks for free.
