NANO Modules ARC is a new analog dual-function generator for Eurorack with various operation modes and many extra, clever goodies.
Modulators belong in every Synthesizer. Whether classic or modular. They bring movement to your sounds. This is traditionally done with envelopes and LFOs. But in recent years, there has been a trend towards versatile modulators such as function generators that go beyond envelopes and LFOs.
These are particularly popular in modular synthesizers. The most recent function generator comes from the Spanish company NANO modules called ARC.
NANO Modules ARC
ARC is a new analog dual-function generator featuring two identical modulation channels with clever functional additions.
Each channel can function as an envelope generator (AD/ADSR), a VCO or LFO, a slew limiter, or a waveform modulator (VCA/polarizer).
It also has dedicated trigger and signal inputs for the latter. So, the module squeezes a lot of modulators in one module, and you usually get out four or more modules. They are also fully tweakable.
Each ARC section offers various parameters, allowing you to fine-tune the modulators. These include Rise and Fall times, linear, logarithmic, or exponential shapes, and an attenuverter for the VCA/polarizer. Additionally, it includes a Sustain mode and an Offset adjust.
To spice up things, the NANO Modules ARS dual-function generator also includes little goodies that give your modulators a boost in flexibility. You get a built-in comparator and a logic section with OR/and functions. There is also CV control over all the features, giving you more modulation options.
DivKid has produced an extensive video about the NANO Modules ARC module, which shows what is possible.
First Impression
At first glance, it is a lovely new analog dual-function generator for Eurorack. I think the interface is very logical and has a hands-on design, and the price is also very affordable for what you get here.
NANO Modules ARC is available now for $249,99 or 225€
