iceWorks has turned its analog modeling + resonator iOS (AUv3) Synthesizer Lorentz into a macOS plugin and get free patches.

iceWorks/iceGear has recently started porting its excellent iOS AUv3 synthesizers to macOS (Apple Silicon). The Opsix-style Nambu FM synth and the physical modeling synth Laplace were first.

Now the analog modeling synth Lorentz is also available. A free update for all users. And I’m celebrating this release with free patches.

iceWorks Lorentz iOS macOS

iceWorks Lorentz (iOS/macOS)

After Laplace and Nambu, Lorentz now has a macOS (Apple Silicon systems) version. The macOS AUv3 plugin features the same core as the mobile version.

Lorentz is an analog modeling Synthesizer upgraded with a resonator module, allowing you to achieve metallic and distorted sounds. It has a single oscillator with saw, pulse waveforms, a sub-oscillator, and noise generator. Nice, you can mix these waveforms at the same time There is also a built-in LFO inside the oscillator to add a more unstable, fluctuating character.

Then, you get a self-resonating lowpass filter with a drive for adding juice. A highpass filter is also onboard. Next to this is the intriguing resonator module with two routing modes great for making more unusual timbres. To refine your sounds, it hosts a flexible chorus and delay processor.

Modulation side, you will find two envelopes and LFO. Lorentz also hosts a built-in programmable arpeggiator.

PolyTouch

To celebrate this release, I revived my patch library PolyTouch with 60 new sounds for Lorentz Synthesizer as a free download. Donations are always welcome.

Installation is quick and easy: open the patch file with the desktop version on macOS, and then it will also be available in the AUv3 plugin.

iceWorks Lorentz is available now for $9,99 USD on the Apple AppStore. The new update 2.6.1 with macOS support is a free update. It runs as a standalone and AUv3 plugin on iPhones, iPads, and macOS (Apple Silicon systems).

Important note: Unfortunately, the Mac App Store is known to have a display bug regarding apps already purchased on an iOS device. In this case, you should still be able to continue the purchase process and download the app for free.

    • No, these patches only work with Lorentz Synthesizer (iOS/macOS). Each iceWork synth has a different engine.
