Factormini, an intro version of J.J. Burred Factorsynth for M4L, is a unique sound decomposition tool that is available as a free download for a limited time.
This Max For Live tool takes a very interesting approach based on machine learning. Unlike traditional audio effect devices, which take the track’s audio input and generate output in real-time, Factormini is a clip-based device. It allows you to decompose sounds into sets of elements that can be modified and rearranged. With Factorimini, you can remix existing clips, removes notes, randomize patterns, and create complex textures with only a few clicks.
You can factorize your clips with up to 8 components, remix, recombine them in session or arrangement view and randomize the component generation.
It works on audio clips from your Live set that you have selected and loaded into Factomini. In the end, you can export the obtained components as individual wave files for further external processing.
Factormini is the introductory version of Factorsynth. It contains Factorsynth’s essential features and uses the same decomposition engine. Both devices use a data analysis algorithm called matrix factorization to decompose any audio clip into a set of temporal and spectral elements.
By rearranging and modifying these elements you can do powerful transformations to your clips, such as removing notes or motifs, creating new ones, randomizing melodies or timbres, changing rhythmic patterns, remixing loops in real time, creating complex sound textures.
J.J. Burred Factormini requires Ableton Live 9.7.5 or higher (including Live 10) and Max for Live 7 or higher. This M4L device is free until April 1st, 2020.
