Behringer keeps its promise and presents the Cat Synthesizer, an analog clone of the Octave Cat expanded for the Eurorack format.

Many believed that it would be just a joke that Behringer is introducing a new synthesizer before the end of the year. Wrongly thought. Now the new Behringer Synthesizer is here and even before the New Year. Cat Synthesizer is an analog clone of the famous Octave Cat Synthesizer in Eurorack format.

Like the original, it offers a mono-/duophonic analog engine with 2 oscillators with square and sawtooth waveforms. VCO 1 also has a triangle waveform onboard. Each of the waveforms can be played simultaneously and mixed together. Plus there are additional sub-octave oscillators on each oscillator to depth and fatness to the sound.

Further, it comes with the CAT filter, 1 VCA, and 2 envelope generators. These include an AR and ADSR envelope with looping function. New for the Behringer version are the patch point on the top right and therefore it’s a semi-modular synth. No keyboard but ready for the Eurorack format.

What patch points are available is unfortunately hard to see in the video, I will add this in a later moment.

Behringer CAT Synthesizer will be available in 2020 with expected price of 300€.
