NAMM 2026: Neural DSP Quad Cortex Mini is a new amp modeler and multi-FX pedal with touchscreen operation and MIDI.

The guitar pedal/stomp box FX market is growing and growing. There’s no sign of it stopping. In the last 2-3 years, there has been significant progress in sound quality and possibilities, thanks to better CPUs, codes, and of course AI.

The Neural DSP Quad Cortex is a multi-effects pedal considered a holy grail. Now, at NAMM 2026, comes the Neural DSP Quad Cortex Mini. More compact, fewer hardware controls, but more affordable.

The new Quad Cortex Mini offers the same engine as the larger one, but in a more portable and compact format.

It brings the same processing power, audio quality, Neural Capture technology, and 7” touchscreen in a footprint that fits effortlessly into pedalboards, modern rigs, or on your desktop.

Like the big Neural DSP Quad Cortex, the Mini version comes loaded with a collection of amps, effects, and cabinets, giving you everything you create sounds and music.

From vintage-inspired and modern amplifiers to studio-grade effects and flexible cabinet simulation, every virtual device is designed to respond naturally to your playing and work together seamlessly.  In detail, you can find 90+ amp models, 100+ effects, and 1000+ cabinet IRs.

One major difference is the pedal’s layout. The Quad Cortex Mini is primarily operated via a touchscreen. In comparison, the larger model offers more controls.

However, the small factor does not apply to the connection side. It has a main mono input, a send/return (also as stereo on TRS), an expression pedal input, XLR outputs, TRS mini MIDI in/out and thru, USB-C port, and four outputs.

Plus, you have a dedicated Capture input on the side, a headphone socket, and a dedicated power supply input.

Yes, you’re right, the Quad Cortex Mini only has one input, and it’s mono. So, for players who like to use stereo synths, this is a bad choice.

First Impression

The Quad Cortex is an exciting pedal, but certainly beyond the budget of many. With the Mini, the Neural DSP developers now offer a more affordable alternative with the same power.

However, I don’t understand why they design such premium multi-effects processors with only one input. This severely limits it to guitar and bass players. If it had a stereo input, you could also connect your synthesizer to it. It’s a shame that wasn’t thought of.

Neural DSP Quad Core Mini is available now for 1299€
