Modartt Syngular is the company’s first physical modeling Synthesizer expansion for its popular Pianoteq plugin.
The French company Modartt is an expert in physical modeling, particularly in recreating acoustic instruments such as pianos. For me, they are synthesizers because they can be fine-tuned to the last detail.
Good news for all synth people: Modartt has now released with Syngular, its first proper physical modeling Synthesizer
Modartt Syngular
Syngular is a new instrument expansion pack that transforms Pianoteq into a physical-modeling synthesizer laboratory.
According to Modartt, the engine is still rooted in modelling strings and hammers, but goes far beyond what you can do with their original Pianoteq instrument.
Pianoteq’s innovative core parameters: unison width, strike point, spectrum profile… become independent Syngular instruments for exploration, allowing users to design organic, dynamic sounds that are detached from the limitation of real-world acoustics.
The expansion provides access to over 30 parameters, including classic synth controls such as ADSR envelope, filter, and more.
Pianoteq Power
All Pianoteq’s creative features are also available with Syngular. This ranges from mallet bounce for expressive note repetition, randomization, and built-in effects such as amp distortion, reverb, and ping-pong delay.
On top of that, as a user of Pianoteq Standard or Pro, you can layer and morph Syngular patches with other Pianoteq instruments, allowing you to create unique hybrid physical modeling instruments.
Modartt Syngular includes more than 50 presets: inspiring Keys ranging from crisp and shimmering to warm and lo-fi, and richly textured Pads, some soothing and nostalgic, some tense and mystical.
In addition to more cinematic and ambient sounds, it includes a wide range of basses, leads, and synth-like sounds for modern productions.
First Impression
Unfortunately, as a fan of physical modeling, I haven’t been able to test the expansion yet, but what I’ve heard is very versatile. There are many organic sounds, as well as some classic ones. I’m happy to see that Modartt now also has a synthesizer.
Modartt Syngular is available now for 39€ as an expansion pack for Pianoteq 9. Pianoteq 9 starts at 139€ in the standard version, which includes two selectable expansion packs. Syngular also runs on iOS as part of Pianoteq 9.
