Dawesome SOL is a new free granular reverb plugin for macOS and Windows made in collaboration with musician and YouTuber S1gns Of L1fe.
There are a few plugin developers whose creations consistently stand out. One of them is the German developer Dawesome, who has become one of my favorite developers over the past few years.
This is because their plugins offer distinctive features that are often missing from competitors’ offerings. Its Kontrast synth was a highlight of this year. As last year, Dawesome also has a free plugin this December, called SOL.
Dawesome SOL
SOL is a new, free granular reverb plugin for macOS and Windows, developed in collaboration with musician and YouTuber Chris Bryant, aka S1gns Of L1fe. Dawesome describes it as a stellar texture effects engine.
At its core is a granular engine that can be tweaked with three parameters. GLITT sets the granular processor intensity, CALM slows the movement, and SHINE adds octave sparkles.
Part of the engine is an expansive CLOUDS reverb to create movement, depth, and spaciousness.
Additionally, this is programmable with three parameters: CLOUDS controls the reverb level, SPACE controls the size and decay, and COLOR applies a filter to the wet signal. By tweaking the color knob, you can darken or brighten the wet signal.
According to Dawesome, the plugin is not designed to emulate particular rooms. It’s a distinct processor that transforms space itself.
Furthermore, it offers dry/wet mix control and a clever explorer mode, which lets you lock the dry/wet knob position. It also ships with a range of presets to get started.
First Impression
There are many free delay and reverb effects available. But free granular reverbs are rarer. This makes the release even better. What makes it even better is that you can download the plugin without registering or using a licensing system.
Thank you, Dawesome and S1gns Of L1fe.
