Native Instruments Maschine 3.4 is out now with a major modulation editor overhaul and more plugins and content for Maschine+ standalone.
The update for Maschine 3 took a little longer for Maschine+ users. It finally arrived in August, in the middle of summer, with update 3.3.1. For the M+ community, it was also an important sign that the standalone Maschine is still getting future updates.
More great news today for hardware and software users: Native Instruments has released Maschine 3.4, which features a significant content update for Maschine+.
Native Instruments Maschine 3.4 (Desktop & Maschine+)
Maschine 3.4 introduces a redesigned modulation editor with significant improvements for the desktop, including long-requested tools like curves, marquee select, and pencil drawing. This makes working with modulations significantly easier and detail-rich.
Then it refines the desktop workflow with grid snapping, drag-to-edit, updated colors, and keyboard shortcuts. This is complemented by a refreshed UI design that streamlines beat production on laptops and desktops.
Not only does the software benefit from this update, but the Machine+ standalone unit does as well. It probably benefits the most.
The new Maschine 3.4 adds native support for more Play Series on Maschine+, including: 24K Keys, 24K Drums, Discoteca Keys, Discoteca Drums, Duets, Empire Breaks, and Feel It.
Alongside the new Play Series additions, the update also introduces a large catalog of compatible plugins now available on Maschine+.
Following update 3.3.1, which already brought Kontakt 8 support, Kontakt 8 Player is also now available for Maschine+. Part of this is the new Kontakt Factory Selection 2 sound library that brings new, ready-to-use instruments to the standalone platform.
New FX Plugins For Maschine+
On top of that, Native Instruments has also adapted many popular effects plugins from the Komplete bundle. Here is a list:
- Replika
- Driver
- Kolor
- Psyche Delay
- Solid Bus Comp
- Solid EQ
- Solid Dynamics
- Tape Wobble
- Transient Master
- Supercharger
- Supercharger GT
A nice collection of new effects for Maschine+. Replika, Kolor, and Psyche Delay on M+ are particularly welcome additions. A license is needed for Play Series instruments or effects plugins to become available for use on Maschine+ devices.
Existing Komplete users can use the new plugins immediately and for free, while others have to purchase them or get the bundle, hopefully in the next Black Friday sale.
Native Instruments also recommends a high-speed SD card for optional performance when using sample-based instruments like the new Play Series.
First Impression
I’m pleased to see that Native Instruments is putting in the effort to continue providing updates for Maschine 3 and Maschine+. The new plugins, in particular, push the M+ further forward in my opinion. Good to see this.
Native Instruments Maschine 3.4 for desktop and Maschine+ are available now as free downloads for existing users of Maschine 3 software. Maschine+ is out now, and you get it as a certified B-stock for 513,45€ for a limited time at Reverb.com.

Typical NI to force their users to upgrade their hardware to use their latest software 🙁
I’m still rocking Kontrol S49 MK1 and Machine Micro MK2 and both Kontrol 3 and Machine 3 are NOT compatible with my hardware..Why?
It’s not like NI re-Written they’re software from scratch…
NI just removed older hardware compatibility to force users to buy new hardware instead.
Kontrol Mk1 was released in 2014 so they they gave nearly 10 years of support. I have many controllers lying around at home that haven’t received any updates in years and don’t benefit from new features. These came from companies like Arturia, Akai, Novation…
Developer resources are limited, and supporting every piece of hardware simultaneously means updating, beta-testing, and fixing firmware of every product. Also different keyboard sized versions etc. If that fails, it can go for months. Often forgotten, that cost a lot of money and manpower which is limited in companies of music tech. They are not Apple, Samsung, or other big tech company. 1-2 developers are working on such hardware firware.
Who’s going to pay that without any expected cashback? Asking people €49? Then people will be shouting, “How dare they!”
In the electronics world (TVs, smartphones, etc.), almost no product receives updates after 5 years. So I understand NI when they say at some point, we discontinue it. It’s still works as a MIDI controller. Other electronics, you can put in the junk after 5+ years.
non working controllers have to be like older than 2001 there literally all class compliant what are you on about ?
Kontrol Mk1 is class compliant so it works as a traditional MIDI controller. The new Komplete Kontrol software generation is not compatible with the Mk1 controller. However, this does not render the controller unusable. It functions like a normal MIDI controller with note, velocity, aftertouch, pitch-mod, mod-wheel and MIDI CC data.
it’s not free at all what are you talking about love?
Love yeah 😉 sorry I added for free for existing Machine 3 software (MIDI controller and Maschine+) users
