At Machina Bristonica 2025, Rides In The Storm has unveiled five new affordable Eurorack modules, including the HFD discrete VC highpass filter.

This weekend marks Machina Bristronica 2025 in Bristol, one of the world’s most significant Synthesizer events. It attracts developers of classic synthesizers as well as numerous Eurorack companies.

Rides In The Storm from Berlin is also featured at the Bristronica 2025 event and showcases five new Eurorack modules.

Uwe Giegler, founder of Rides In The Storm, is on hand and has brought five new modules with him. Like all the other modules from the company, they’re once again very fair priced.

The highlight of the new Rides In The Storm modules for Bristonica 2025 is the 4HP HFD, a new discrete voltage-controlled high-pass filter with clear and accurate low-noise performance.

It offers 2-pole, 3-pole, and 4-pole operation modes and can self-oscillate in high-frequency ranges. According to RITS, the module also features resonance compensation and a resonance boost, designed for handling distorted sounds.

It’s fully tweakable with classic controls, including cutoff and resonance. Thanks to the 1V/oct input, you can also use it as an oscillator with maximum resonance.

Alongside the module’s audio input with gain and output, it also has various modulation points. It has CV ins for the resonance, envelope, and exponential and linear FM.

Rides In The Storm says that it’s a perfect match with the analog SED-CSM synth voice via the serial insert or all other VCF modules.

Many Utility Modules

There are more new Rides In The Storm modules for Bristonica 2025. These are not large but only small utility modules.

MUL is a 2HP one-channel attenuator or attenuator and offset generator (+/- 10V) controllable with a 30mm slider.

It has two operating modes: in attenuator mode, it exhibits an exponential fader characteristic, while the attenuverter mode features an S-curve. The offset controller is switchable pre/post fader via a jumper.

Third new module is the IPT, a 2HP dual inverter and precision adder. It is split into two sections. The inverter channel A is normalized to channel B. On the lower level, you have the precision adder with channels A and B, both with the same gain at the output.

IDA is a new 2HP discrete high-end VCA with low distortion, clear transients, low noise, and a wide frequency range. The module is designed for both audio and CV duties. It’s a straightforward module with an audio input and output, and a CV input.

An LED provides visual feedback when clipping occurs, and an additional jumper allows you to switch operation between 5, 7,5, and 10V.

Last but not least, the last Rides In The Storm module for Bristonica 2025 is CLI, a neat 2HP clipping module for Eurorack.

It offers various clip modes (asymmetrical softclip, symmetrical softclip, triode clip, asymmetrical hardclip…) selectable with a five-way switch.

It is capable of generating new sounds from various sound sources, including sine and triangle waves, drums, and others. It’s also capable of compressing audio and CV signals.

On the connection side, it has an input and output, and two controls: gain and mix that blends between the wet and clipped signal.

First Impression

Five beautiful new modules from Rides In The Storm. They’re not groundbreaking innovations, but they’re practical tools that we always need in a Eurorack system.

The Rides In The Storm modules for Bristonica 2025 are available soon: HFD, 95€; MUL, 49€; IPT, 45€; and IDA, 59€.
