Superbooth 2025: Black Noise Modular Eclipse is a new stereo analog morphing oscillator with waveshaping and extreme FM mode.
Superbooth 2025 starts in two days, and the news is coming in almost every minute. Many Eurorack manufacturers who made Superbooth so big will be there again.
One of these is the French company Black Noise Modular, which was there for the first time last year. For Superbooth 2025, Black Noise Modular has released its new stereo analog morphing oscillator.
Black Noise Modular Eclipse
Eclipse is a new 14HP stereo analog oscillator for Eurorack with unique morphing capabilities. The French developers of Black Noise Modular say Eclipse combines the raw character of vintage analog oscillators with modern features for crafting rich, complex, and expressive sounds.
Eclipse’s core consists of a high-precision analog triangle oscillator that tracks accurately over 10 octaves and is stable at high temperatures. The shaping options make things exciting.
The module features a morphing waveshaper with three modes based on an original circuit design inspired by the legendary VCS3. During the design process, they discovered the waveshaper’s unique potential for stereo processing.
This resulted in a dedicated stereo section to spread and move waveforms across the stereo field while maintaining perfect balance at any setting. You can find two stereo modes: SPAM (Stereo Pulse Array Modulation) and SPSM (Stereo Pulsed Saw Modulation)
It also has many FM options, with three modes: linear, exponential, and a custom Xtreme mode to go over the edge. Additionally, a unique quadrature mode called MorphX can be used for wave blending, RM/AM, or even sidechain ducking. As a bonus, you can use it as an LFO and ULFO with cycles up to 1 hour.
Eclipse offers full CV control across all parameters, with smart normalization enabling global modulation from a single source. For example, it has voltage control over both waveshaping and CV depth, allowing for dynamic oscillator timbres.
There are also individual outputs for the waveforms sine, triangle, saw, square, sub, and morph square.
First Impression
At first glance, it sounds like a nice, original analog oscillator with some neat sound shaping options.
Black Noise Modular Eclipse is now available for 399€ in an assembled version or 319€ (DIY kit with a pre-soldered SMD). You can explore the module at the Superbooth booth W211 this week.
