Apple has released Logic Pro for macOS 11.2 and for iPad 2.2, featuring new Flashback Capture functionality, an enhanced Stem Splitter, and more.

Last November, Apple released Logic Pro 11.1 and for iPad 2.1 with major new features. Among them was the Quantum Room Simulator, an emulation of the original hardware in collaboration with the inventor.

Today, there’s more good news for Logic Pro users. Apple has released Logic Pro 11.2 and Logic Pro 2.2 for iPad with new features.

Apple Logic Pro 11.2 Update

They remain true to themselves, and the new Logic Pro 11.2 is another free update for the DAW.

A highlight of the new Logic Pro 11.2 is a new flashback capture functionality that records your improvisations in the background. You must enable the cycle mode to improvise multiple takes, without the pressure of being in record. Logic Pro can then transfer them to a take folder or multiple new tracks.

Use Flashback Capture on almost any sound. This can be a MIDI instrument, an audio source, or even an external instrument that this new functionality can capture. A convenient feature when you’re jamming around with an instrument but not recording it. Often, exciting ideas arise in such moments that would otherwise be lost.

The new update also introduces enhanced STEM splitter functionality, including greater audio fidelity. More importantly, you can now split the tracks also into guitar and piano tracks. There is also a new submix feature to create a custom audio file, like an instrumental or just drums with bass.

It also allows you to create presets to quickly set up commonly used stem mixes, such as a cappella, instrumental, and instrumental with vocal, among others. AI is also becoming more integrated into Logic Pro, with the introduction of ChatGPT into the Writing Tools for exploring ideas for song lyrics, chords, and more.

Alongside this, Apple Logic Pro 11.2 also ships with new sound packs: Dancefloor Rush with Drum and Bass sounds, Magnetic Imperfections, and Tosin Abasi progressive metal guitar sounds.

There is also an improvement for the search and select function. You can now navigate large projects with each by searching and selecting tracks by name or track number

At the same time, Apple also updated Logic Pro for iPad to version 2.2. It includes all the new features found in Logic Pro 11.2, plus one important new one for the tablet version.

Logic Pro for iPad 2.2 finally features MIDI learn functionality, allowing users to get hands-on control by easily assigning their favorite knobs, faders, and buttons on MIDI devices to control plug-ins, instruments, and other automatable parameters within Logic Pro.

The long-awaited Learn MIDI features an intuitive interface that provides real-time visual feedback on your custom assignments, available controls, and more.

A nice update for both versions of Logic Pro.

  1. Logic Pro 2.2 for ipad broke side chain, multi out, midi controlled fx. For some of us its presently useless, and renders existing projects unusable. Want to use multiband compressing for some “trackspacing”? Want to use a harmonizer with incoming midi? etc… tough teabags mate.
