NAMM 2025: Korg has introduced four new portable handytraxx turntables (play, tube, tube j, and 1bit) for every budget and need.
NAMM 2025 starts next week with many new products. Korg is again a big player, introducing four new synthesizers yesterday: the new Kronos, miniKORG 700SM, multi/poly module, and multi/poly native plugin.
Korg doesn’t just have new synthesizers at the booth. At NAMM 2024, they already previewed the handytraxx, a new series of portable turntables. Now, four new versions are ready, one for every budget.
Korg handytraxx play
The new handytraxx is a new portable turntable with modern features developed in collaboration with Toshihide Nakama, the co-creator of the original Vestax Handy Trax. Korg says it’s designed for DJs, vinyl enthusiasts, and creative performers.
It lets you enjoy playing records and performing as a DJ wherever you go. It has a high-quality fader optimized for scratching, a custom-designed tonearm, and a motor control circuit.
The highlight is the modern feature set. It features unique digital effects, including three versatile filter types (morphing lowpass/highpass, EQ filter with a low isolator, and a peaking wah filter) and a delay. The latter creates spacious, ambient soundscapes to bold, metallic echoes.
Then, it hosts a built-in audio looper with a variable-speed control switch. This allows you to capture and replay live playback of the record’s sound, a process known as live looping.
The new Korg handytraxx Play can be powered by an AC adapter or six AA batteries, allowing you to take your music anywhere. There is also a built-in 2.5W speaker that delivers sound with rich bass and clear playback, whether you’re connected to external speakers or not.
Korg handytraxx Tube
Handytraxx tube is another new portable turntable that goes in a different direction. It blends classic analog warmth with modern functionality.
Designed for vinyl lovers and audiophiles, it features exclusive Nutube vacuum tube technology for rich, harmonic sound and a high-quality JICO MM cartridge for dynamic playback.
Also onboard are bass and treble controls with which you can tweak the sound to your taste. A highlight of the Korg handytraxx tube is the ability to digitize your vinyl collection by connecting it to a computer via USB.
In addition, it hosts stereo speakers that provide clear, balanced audio for an immersive listening experience.
Tube J
The third item in the group is the Korg handytraxx tube J, which resembles the standard model and nearly matches its features. However, unlike the regular tube version, tube J is equipped with a JICO’s advanced Clipper cartridge, delivering pristine playback quality.
The handytraxx tube J also features the exclusive Nutube vacuum tube technology, built-in stereo speakers, and digital conversion capabilities.
1bit
Finally, we have the handytraxx 1bit, the version for vinyl enthusiasts seeking high-fidelity playback of their records, says Korg.
It offers state-of-the-art digitization capabilities and captures the full essence of your vinyl collection with unparalleled clarity and quality (5.6 MHz, 1-bit (DSD)). The 1bit also features a Nutube Phono EQ that uses advanced vacuum tube technology to add warmth and depth to your vinyl playback.
The adjustable bass and treble controls, which allow you to tweak the sound to your taste, are also onboard.
Additionally, it features Korg’s AudioGate4 technology, allowing effortless recording and conversion of vinyl into digital formats. Similar to the tube models, it also includes integrated stereo speakers.
The new Korg handytraxx turntables will be available soon. Handtraxx play for £359, tube for £699, tube J for £1099 and 1bit for £919.
