Destiny Plus Programma 900, this Synthesizer is a super complex harmonic musical computer

Programma 900 is a new Synthesizer/harmonic music computer built on FPGA and ARM cortex technology by Destiny Plus, the creator of the Czochralski cells.

If you made a Synthesizer catalog with all available synthesizers, it would be massive and very colorful, from super classic to super crazy and weird. Destiny Plus is a developer who exploits the topic of crazy and unusual almost completely.

Yes, the developer of the fascinating Czochralski cells drum synth or the Entanglement Space multi-FX. They have crazy deep concepts but are also super crazy sounding. The Programma 900 is his latest project, but don’t worry; it’s super different again.

Programma 900

Programma 900 is a new harmonic/additive Synthesizer “workstation” built on FPGA and ARM cortex technology. Destiny Plus describes it as a harmonic musical computer.

In his new experimental instrument, you can explore the generation of harmonics in depth. Of course, with a lot of chaos. The additive core features six polytonal voices, each with controls over the odd harmonic, even harmonic, harmonic partials, harmonic tilt, and fundamental frequency.

Then, there are four quadrant multiplication of individual voices. Besides this, it hosts 32x complex gestural CV buffers, a very interesting take on modulation. Each buffer comes with various modes for speed and attenuation.

The buffers allow you to record up to 6 minutes of CV recording. These can be used to record parameters and set them in motion. Classical synthesis is already fun with parameter automation but with additive synthesis,

I’m pretty sure it gets very crazy. There are also 32 mod destinations and voice envelopes.

Looping & Effects

Other deep functions of the Programma 900 are a 3000-note MIDI record buffer and looper, three-location A-B-C pan control, and six interpolating morphing inputs to each voice.

Further, you can also put your harmonic soundscapes into the cosmic real, using the experimental stereo regeneration/delay algorithm with over 12 min of regen buffers. Different regeneration modes and buffer filters are also onboard.

According to Destiny Plus, Programma 900 also ships with a desktop app that opens extra utilities on the hardware, including multiple voice allocation modes, pnp/drum mode, randomizer for all parameters, and more. The app also acts as a preset manager for the hardware.

Destiny Plus Programma 900 First Impression

Sounds complicated and unusual? Yes, this is not the easiest Synthesizer. Programma 900 is a synth for musicians who want to explore new things or have always been into additive synthesis. It’s fascinating, very experimental, and fresh.

That’s what I particularly like about the Destiny Plus developments. They show impressively how far and exotic instrument design can go.

Programma 900 by Destiny Plus is available now on demand for 2.695,- GBP

  1. Maybe you should open a “miljonairs” category? I see something like this, and the only thing I do is scroll to the bottom where my suspicion regarding the price is confirmed: unobtainium.

  2. its exotic, so of course limited demand means limited production run. I always cheap out on gear until something useful or special arrives. I was gonna get a lumatone, but i found an alternative…so this…

    • Possibly. However, while there are plenty of musicians who are prepared to spend this kind of money on a well spec’d synth, I think most will think twice about spending this much on a novelty item. But I’ll reserve judgement for now. Maybe future demos will show more versatility – too often “experimental “ means “one trick pony”.

  3. I guess the FGPA tech contributes to the high price but is really useful for additive synthesis. That’s only a guess – I’m not a techie. I wouldn’t mind hiring one for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t justify buying one.
