BLEASS Vox is a new creative vocal processor plugin with formant shifting and pitch-bending for macOS, Windows, and iOS.

Kraftwerk is a pioneer of electronic music. Not only because of their synth sounds but also their manipulation of signals, especially the voice. They used vocoders early on to robotize their voices.

With today’s free and commercial tools, all of this is available to anyone, and anywhere with a few clicks. The French developers at BLEASS have introduced a vocal processor plugin with instant transformation fun.

BLEASS Vox

Vox is a new vocal processor plugin with a creative core and an easy-to-use interface. It’s like every BLEAS release so far.  The plugin is not for me because I am not a singer myself. When the world is about to end, I like to sing the last verses, but otherwise, I stay away from this task.

If you are a singer, the new BLEASS plugin could be interesting. It allows you to manipulate and sculpt the formant characteristics of your vocals, resulting in unique effects. Use the middle section to transform your vocals with transposing options, fixing the pitch, and more. There is also a stereo option.

Highlights and main differences to the previous Voices plugin are the unison and vibrato parts. According to BLEASS, the unison effect is inspired by the world of synthesizers. It adds an impressive depth and weight easily to your vocals, using three parameters (voices, detune, stereo)

The unison processor can also spread the signal up-to ten detuned voices across the entire stereo image, delivering a huge, captivating sonic presence. A unique ability, says BLEASS.

Then, you have the flexible vibrato section. The developers promise that “it places a new realm of expressiveness at your fingertips”. It is capable of creating subtle pitch fluctuations up to extreme special effects. It is fully programmable with three controls (attack, speed, and amount). More:

it is at home in the studio and on the road, its real time processing mode delivering the speed and efficiency needed during tracking sessions and live performances, whilst its standard processing mode delivers the quality and accuracy demanded by the critical editing and mixing stages of your projects.

It’s very positive to see that BLEASS also thinks about the iOS AUv3 world and developed the plugin not just for macOS and Windows.

First Impression

Vocal processors are not my area of expertise since I don’t sing myself. But I really like the simplicity of the Vox plugin. This kind of processor is often overloaded with features and is ultimately no fun to use. Here it is very simple and hands-on.

BLEASS Vox is available now for an introductory price of 29€ instead of 39€. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. The iOS version is available for $9,99 on the Apple App Store and runs as a standalone app and AUv3 plugin.
