Nembrini Audio NA 501 is an authentic emulation of the legendary Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo for macOS, Windows, and iOS AUv3.
Roland built many now legendary effects in the 70s and 80s. The RE-201 Space Echo is an absolute classic and is the model for many modern tape echo/space echo style pedals and plugins. There are also tons of emulations.
The RE-201 had an orange sister, the RE-501 Chorus Echo. This classic from 1974 is now also available as an emulation.
Nembrini Audio NA 501
NA 501 Chorus Echo is an authentic emulation of the legendary Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo. Like the original, it features a lush BBD chorus, a classic tape delay, and a spring reverb.
All three effects are based on the characteristics and features of the RE-501. It starts with a lush, creamy chorus with intensity and wide controls.
Then, it goes into the echo with the SOS section. It has the same six echo modes: rate, wide, repeat option, and intensity controls. The SOS section has a dedicated volume; unlike the original, you have independent L & R timings.
There is also DAW tempo sync and other expanded chorus and delay parameters. Plus, it hosts a preamp with selectable linear configuration and volume potentiometer.
Good news for all iOS users. the NA 501 Chorus Echo is not just a plugin for macOS and Windows. It’s also available for iOS with AUv3 support.
First Impression
The Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo hasn’t caught my attention as much as the RE-201. Maybe I’m alone here or it’s the case with you too. But the NA 501 makes you want to use this classic sound again. T
The demos sound promising and the UI is also simple and inviting for parameter tweaking. If you want a RE-501 emulation, you’ve come to the right place.
