At Superbooth 23, Erica Synths announced a number of new products. In addition to the exciting Steampipe Synthesizer, they also showcased three new modules.
The DJ VCF is already available. As of today, the new stereo effects Delay 2 and Reverb, created in collaboration with the developer 112dB, are also available. They cost 280€ + VAT + shipping each.

Erica Synths today announced its exciting and unusual physical modeling Synthesizer Steampipe. That’s not all they’re bringing with them to Superbooth 23.
You can also discover three all-new Erica Synths Black series modules, including a new Stereo Delay 2, Stereo Reverb, and DJ VCF.
Erica Synths Superbooth 23
Three new Black series modules for Superbooth 23. Two of them, the delay and reverb, like the Steampipe synth, were created in collaboration with the Dutch plugin company 112dB. An interesting collaboration because they produces high quality plugins. Plus the effects run on a new DSP hardware.
Instead of a generic multi-FX approach, we decided to develop dedicated modules with extended controls over the most important parameters – FX design powerhouses.
Erica Synths Black Stereo Delay 2
The new Black Stereo Delay 2 has 10HP and features three delay types: tape, BBD and digital. Plus, you get three delay modes for each type. On the front panel you get
- delay time – manual and with CV control
- tone – manual and with CV control
- spread adds nuanced control over delay stereo movement
- feedback – manual and with CV control
- tap – manual delay time control
- sync input for the delay time
Black Stereo Delay 2 also comes with 10 preset memories in which you can save parameter settings.
Erica Synths Black Stereo Reverb
The Black Stereo Reverb also has 12HP and comes with three reverb types (tape, BBD, digital), and three reverb modes (room, hall, and cathedral). Then, you get on the front panel:
- size – manual and with CV control
- tone – manual and with CV control
- spin controls for sound stereo movement
- feedback – manual and with CV control
There is also a freeze function (manually or trigger) with an 1V/oct tuning allowing to create unusual granular synthesis sounds. That could be an interesting feature. Also here, you get 10 preset memories for saving your settings.
Erica Synths DJ VCF
The last module for Superbooth 23 is an all-new DJ VCF. DJ and modular, can this go together? Yes says Erica Synths. Instead of redoing another classic from the past, Erica Synths developed a new fully analog voltage controlled filter that takes inspiration on those found on the DJ decks.
DJ VCF (10HP) combines lowpass and highpass filter. It gives you manual and CV controlled cutoff frequency control and only manual control over the resonance.
The VCF is fully open with the cutoff knob at 12:00. When turned counterclockwise, the lowpass VCF takes effect, when turned clockwise – high pass filtering is applied. There is also a built-in CV attenuverter and attenuator for the CV inputs.
First Impression
Three good new effect modules, but one of which is an analog filter. Above all, I’m very curious about the quality of the delay and reverb, since I know the plugins from .112dB. Looking forward to hearing demos of them.
