G-Storm Electro has released 101-VCO r2, the revision 2 of its analog clone/replica of the Roland SH-101 oscillator for Eurorack
The American Boutique developer G-Storm Electro is known for bringing elements of old synthesizer classics into the Eurorack. Oscillators like the SH-101, filters from the Oberheim OB-Xa, Sequential Pro-1, or Roland SH-5, and more.
Now he published a revision 2 of his Roland SH-101 clone/replica for Eurorack
G-Storm Electro 101-VCO r2
101-VCO r2, aka revision 2, is a redesigned version of its initial 101-VCO. The new revision 2 now comes in 12HP and offers all the same authentic features of the original Roland SH-101 oscillator.
G-Storm Electro says the new version offers improved tuning stability using power rail voltage references. You can also tune more simply via the coarse and fine-tune knobs. Plus, it no longer requires any expander; it now hosts all individual waveforms outputs in the module.
101-VCO r2 is a clone/replica of the analog SH-101 oscillator but expanded in feature using more power from the 3340 chip. Including triangle wave and exponential FM, two flavours of linear FM, and CV controllable PWM. The remaining features as close as possible to the original circuit but just in 12HP for your modular rack:
Key Features
- Alfa AS3340 re-issue chip
- coarse and fine controls
- waveforms: saw, square/pulse/PWM and sub-oscillator
- noise
- FM (linear and exponential)
- waveform mixer
- 1/V oct input
- CV ins for FM and PWM
- individual outputs for the waveforms, incl. mix, and sub
First Impression
It’s a nice update for G-Storm Electro 101-VCO. I like especially that it’s now more compact but with the same features.
G-Storm Electro 101-VCO r2 is available now for 190,63€ + VAT + import taxes from the official Reverb shop.

But, if behringer do it feathers get roughed
Behringer trigger alarm 😉 ? Nothing against Behringer if they do this. I’m only against when B. copies existing products from other company still on the market. That’s shady, this is an old design from the 80s.
