HoRNet Plugins has published Cassette644, a new effects plugin replacing the unique characteristics of vintage 4-track cassette records.
FabFilter, Softube, U-he… are the big players in the plugin world. But there are also small one-person companies such as Inear Display or HoRNet Plugins from Italy. The latter offers a variety of useful and creative plugins for very, very little money.
His latest plugin is called Cassette644 and is a vintage tape effects processor.

Cassette644 is a new analog tape-style effects processor that emulates the iconic sound and character of a legendary tape recorder. Full of warmth, saturation, and life.
The plugin consists of three cassette types, including type I (normal), type II (chrome), and type IV (metal), each with a distinct character. Each type has also a slow and high-speed option.
Then on the left side, you have a three-band semi-parametric EQ, modeled after vintage tape recorders. You adjust it with high, mid (freq and gain), and low plus switchable hiss.
Besides these functions, you can also get more advanced controls: routing modifications (EQ pre- or post-cassette FX, linked input and output, or high-quality oversampling. Using the link switch, you can also link together every instance of Cassette644, recreating a multi-track virtual cassette. Further, you have VU meters for accurate monitoring of inputs and output levels.
Cassette644 comes with a vector resizable user interface and no copy protection. So no registration, dongle, or serial.
First Impression
At first glance, an excellent plugin with plenty of features and a well-structured interface. The price is unbeatable for what is on offer.
