E-RM (Erfindungsbüro), makers of the popular Multiclocks and Polygogo goes out of business, but support will remain active throughout 2023.

The music tech world isn’t all good news. It also includes sad news. We had many of these in 2022. Among others, Mutable Instruments and WMD, two popular Eurorack manufacturers, left the big stage.

Another also left the market at the end of 2022, at very quiet soles. The Berlin company E-RM Erfindungsböro left the market, but the news only became known today.

The Multiclock USB and MIDIclock+ are the most popular products from the Berlin-based company E-RM. Two brilliant products with which you can create rock-solid MIDI clocks signals, allowing you to easily synchronize your hardware synthesizers, drum machines, and more.

Live electronic musicians with hybrid setups love the Multiclock USB. Mainly because you can manipulate the clock signals very deeply. For example, you can move channels individually in time and move them with a shuffle. Perfect for eliminating MIDI jitter. An almost must-have for live performers with Ableton Live in the setup.

E-RM final product went into the experimental world. The Polygogo is an innovative stereo digital oscillator with a unique graphical approach. It uses polygonal synthesis, originally invented by Maximilian Rast and Christoph Hohnerlein. It is based on complex two-dimensional amplitude shaping of sine waves, combined with internal modulation sources and a new type of wave folder.

After 10 years, the developers have closed the E-RM chapter. They write in the official release:

Dear Reader,We will close business on December 31st 2022 after 10 years of operation. We would like to thank everyone who worked with us and supported the company: our customers and partners for the creative output, trust and belief in our vision, our dealers and distributors for making our products available all around the world and our suppliers for sharing their valuable experience at all times.

We hope that we have made your life easier and more inspired, like you made it for us. We learned a lot from all of you.We are closing, but we are not gone. Maybe some product will pop up reborn somewhere else – or new stuff will come up. For sure, the ending of E-RM opens a space to start new endeavors.

Have fun!

Mitja, Philipp, Gal & Max, the team of E-RM

Retailers are currently selling the remaining units. Support will remain in place throughout 2023. Thanks for the super handy products you created under the brand E-RM. I hope the Multiclock USB finds a new home as it is now an essential product in many setups. All the best.

  1. meh, their objects were priced quite high. I get that productions costs are up, component availability sparse… but these higher end boutique companies very often seem to fail similarly. perhaps this wouldn’t be the case if products were sold at reasonable prices. a quadruple midi clock interface sounds like a nice thing to have, but for $600, that’s a bit outrageous.
