Deal: for a limited time, Korg is offering its SQ-64 hardware sequencer with a nearly 40% OFF discount for $199,99 USD instead of $329 USD.
Last August there was one of the best hardware deals in a long time in the US. During the summer, Korg offered the opsix FM Synthesizer at almost 50% off for $329.99 USD. A deal that hit like a rocket and sold out in no time. According to Korg, several thousand units were sold in just a few days.
Today Korg USA announced another big hardware deal. For a limited time, you can purchase the SQ-64 hardware sequencer at almost 40% off for $199.99 USD. A downer: the deal is only valid in the US. In Europe, however, it is currently available for 245€ which isn’t a bad price either compared to the initial price.
Korg SQ-64 Sequencer
The Korg SQ-64 is a polyphonic sequencer with three melodic tracks, each with 16 patterns of up to 64 steps. Plus, you get a drum track with 16 sub-tracks also with up to 64 steps each. You can edit melody tracks and patterns in several modes (GATE, PITCH, and MODULATION). So you can alter the information sent by your sequencer on each of these steps in many interesting ways. The DRUM track outputs have fine-tune options to match the polarity and voltage of your connected device(s).
Then, each melody track offers a modulation output allowing you to create complex modulations. Of course, the sequencer is capable of advanced melodic content, including polyphonic chord patterns, complex polyrhythms, modulations, and more. You can choose between four inspiring sequence playback modes for each sequence lance: reverse, bounce, random, and stochastic. Of course, there is also probability, and other creative functions.
SQ-64 is powered by a 64-pad matrix that not only acts as your sequencer interface but also as a very flexible keyboard with several layouts (keys, isomorphic, octaves). There is also a powerful arpeggiator.
On the connection side, you get: MIDI IN (x1) and OUT (x2), micro USB type B, Sync IN & OUT, 3 Melody tracks each with MODULATION, PITCH and GATE outputs, and a DRUM track with 8 individual trigger outputs for controlling analog synths, Eurorack, and drum machines.
Certainly an interesting sequencer for this price, but it has some weaknesses: on the one hand, micro USB in 2022 is almost a mortal sin and a 3.5mm TRS adapter for MIDI is also not ideal.
