Almost exactly a year ago I reported that iZotope had taken over the reverb and effects specialist Exponential Audio. Crazy how fast time flies. In the past few months, there have been increasing special offers with which one could discover the plugin from Ex. A. relatively cheaply. Excalibur is a stereo multi-effects processor that offers a wide range of algorithms: chorus, flanger, phaser, ring mod, distortion, res filter, glide, reverb, four resonator types… It can be described more like a traditional multi-effects plugin that is inspired by the great hardware units of old.
At his heart are four fully configurable effect voices. Each provides a discrete mono signal flow from input to output and two voices must be used to create a mono or stereo-in to stereo-out effect.
The power of the plugin lies in its modulation options that include LFOs as well as audio signals such as inputs and outputs, and Var, which measures input level transient activity. If you search a more traditional multi-effects processor but with a twist, this could be a nice deal for you.
