SYNTH ANATOMY uses affiliation & partner programs (big red buttons) to finance a part of the activity. If you use these, you support the website. Thanks!

For several months it had become quiet around the developer discoDSP. So his website was not available for a long time and customers could not download his product. Now there are good news. The developer is back and all the plugins are available again. He also published updates for his products in the last few days.

So also for the free OB-Xd Synthesizer, which is now again ready for download. In the new update, he fix several bugs and reorganise the installers. If you search a nice free poly synth for PC & Mac, than check out absolutely the free OB-Xd synth plugin.

Description

OB-Xd is based on the Oberheim OB-X. It attempts to recreate its sound and behavior, but as the original was very limited in some important ways a number of things were added or altered to the original design.

The OB-Xd was designed to sound as good and as rich as the original. It implements micro random detuning which is a big part of that sound. However, it was not designed as a self-contained completely independent soft-synth. It needs to be contained within a VST framework where things like transposition, automation, layering, arpeggiation, etc., are available.

Changes In Updated Installers
  • Removed manual setup files to avoid placing files incorrectly.
  • Windows installer now 64-bit with VST2 32/64-bit folder selection.
  • macOS installer fixes GarageBand 10 issues.
  • Linux package includes a bash install script.

OB-Xd is now available as free download from the discoDSP website.
