Dreadbox recently announced that they will no longer produce the Hades monophonic Synthesizer. I have tested it back in 2016 and it convinced me especially of the fantastic sound quality. So I was not glad that this instrument was no longer available. Today, however, there is new synth food available from Greece. The Hades is back and is now a DIY analog Synthesizer.

The Hades is still an analog monophonic Synthesizer with one VCO with two 2 sub-octaves and 3 different waveforms (pulse, double saw, saw). It comes with a variable pulse width and double saw. It features a 3-pole 18dB/oct resonating state variable filter and a drive circuit for extra fatness. The Hades architecture includes 2 envelope generators (1x attack, decay / release, sustain) and 1 envelope with Attack & Release which is hardwired to the VCA. Additional triangle and square wave LFO’s offers a good amount of modulation possibilities. As usual for Dreadbox Synthesizers, the new Hades comes also with a matrix with 13 patch points which are Eurorack compatible as well an external input. With the new oscillator output, final output and other connections, the Hades is now fully usable in the Eurorack world.

For a DIY price of 140 €, the new Hades is a very interesting and excellent sounding product. If you can not solder the device, you an also buy an assembled version for 250 €. In my opinion is the Hades the perfect Synthesizer for creating big an fat sounding bass sounds.
