KOMA Elektronik's STROM Modular Power System Is A New Affordable Power Solution For The Eurorack Format That Produce Less Background Noises

A right power solution is one of the first topics you have to deal with if you want to buy a Eurorack Synthesizer. Often beginners buy a relatively cheap power supply to save some money. At this point should not be saved in my opinion. In June, I was also in the situation because I want to put together a small portable mini system and I decided for a relatively cheap module. After which I had read various forum threads and also friends recommend me to buy a better one because cheap power modules can produce a lot of background noise. So I finally decided for a somewhat more expensive product with a higher quality and less noise production. KOMA Elektronik announced today the Strom Modular Power System, a new affordable power solution for the Eurorack format that produce less background noise due of circuit improvements. Also they implemented a short-circuit protection that gives you the security you need for your modular case. Also new and not yet seen in any other product is a new current sensing technology that gives you visual feedback of current consumption. This feature, only available at the STROM+ that includes LED’s for each rail which will turn orange then red, when the current consumption reaches or crosses the maximum load of that rail. This is a clever feature for such a product because often we don’t know if we can attached an additional module or not. In short: a cool release from the Berlin based Eurorack developers that shake up a bit the market of power modules.

STROM is a strong, reliable and slick power solution for your modular system. The STROM and STROM+ power modules were made with care for your system: it includes short-circuit protection, replaceable fuse and a visual feedback of current consumption (STROM+ only). Only the best is good enough for us. STROM and STROM+ offer ultra low ripple on each rail, also under full load. The input on both STROM and STROM+ is 15VDC and 4,6 A and the output is 1.5A @ +12V and 5V and 1,0 @ -12V.

One active module can power multiple skiffs thanks to the STROM passive module which distributes the power which can be linked to an active or another passive module with two link-connectors in the front of the system.
