With a big surprise, the german company announced today Quantum, a new 8 voice-hybrid analog digital Synthesizer. Quantum is an 8-voice polyphonic keyboard, with a sound engine that use three digital oscillators (wavetable, analog waveforms, granular (particle sampling) and resonator synthesis) per voice paired with analog filters.
Our friends of Sonicstate visited the day before the first day of the Musikmesse the booth of Waldorf and shoot an exclusive video about this new Synthesizer with some first audio demos. We must be careful about our first impressions about the sound quality because the device is still in deep development and not ready until Q4 2017. A price is not yet fixed but they estimate a price of 3000€ + what goes in the flagship Synthesizer area.
From my personal side, I really like this new Synthesizer because it’s something new and innovative. The granular and resonator oscillator features sounds awesome and will be for sure an excellent new territory for sound designers.
