Ableton released this week Live 9.5, a free update for existing users and launch also the new Push 2 controller.
What is new in Ableton 9.5

SimplerNew Interface, warping, slicing, new analog-modeled filters from Cytomic, slice samples across the keyboard, play single single hits, warp long samples. 3 Operations modes: Classic Mode, One Shot Mode and Slicing Mode

Updated meters for peak and RMS

Improved waveforms, meters and coloring

Great sounding analog modeled filters based on classic vintage hardware models that will self-resonate, feedback, and distort beautifully. The new filters are included in Simpler, Sampler, Operator and Auto Filter.

More sounds, samples and drums

New Instruments inside Max Essentials: Poly (Polyphonic Synthesizer), Bass (Monophonic Synthesizer) and Multi (a synth designed for immediate tweakability from Push)

Link: Play with others, in perfect sync: Ableton Live in Sync but also IOS Apps with Live

What I think about this update:

– Great to see free updates for a software which is longer available than 2 years (Live 9)
– Excellent sounding filters
– Much easier workflow with Simpler
Feature Highlight 1: Slices and mapping over the keyboard
Feature Highlight 2: Link: Connect IOS Apps in Sync to Ableton Live

With the Link, Ableton make a big step in the right direction with IOS Apps and I hope to see more in the future.
