Squarp Instruments xp32 is a new CV expander that supercharges the Hermod+ multi-track sequencer for Eurorack with 32 customizable outputs.
Last week, Squarp Instruments released firmware 2.0 for the Hermod+ multi-track sequencer module. It gives the sequencer a big modulation boost with three mod tracks per channel. So 24 extra modulation signals via this free firmware update.
Now the Squarp Instruments developers are taking the sequencer to the next level with the new xp32 expander that adds 32 extra outputs to it.

The new 14HP xp32 is a new CV expander for the Hermod+ multi-track sequencer. The installation is easy. Just link the Squarp Instruments xp32 and Hermod+ on the backside with the included ribbon cable. Once done, your sequencer gets superpowers.
The expander transforms your Hermod+ into a 16-track CV/gate sequnecer, an expansive MIDI/USB-to-CV interface, a preset manager, and more. It integrates seamlessly. Hermod+ will automatically recognize the expander, and your 32 additional outputs are ready to use instantly.
Each of the 32 output jack is powered by a dedicated 16–bit industrial grade DAC, ensuring the best accuracy for all your control voltage signals, from pitch to fine modulations. They can output signals with voltage between –10V to +10V.
Exciting is that you can freely customize these 32 outputs. Each output can be a CV signal (pitch, velocity, aftertouch, modulation…) or a gate signal (notes, triggers, or clocks). For example, you can create 32 modulation signals with it.
Important: if you use the new expander, Hermod+’s 8 initial CV/gate tracks remain untouched. Instead, the xp32’s 8 additional voices are internally mapped to Hermod+’s MIDI tracks, offering maximum expandability without altering your existing workflow.
Further, each output socket also offers a customizable LED that is driven by a fully analog current-control circuit, guaranteeing zero digital noise.
First Impression
A pricey expander but one that massively expands the Heromod+ functionality. If I had a Hermod+ sequencer the xp32 expander would certainly be very tempting.
Squarp Instruments xp32 is available now for 490€ + VAT + shipping.

This is a pricey upgrade for sure, but being able to set pitch CV to 0-10v will be a godsend for working with Arturia devices like the Keystep Pro. I think I’ll have to pony up the bucks because this looks like a match made in Heaven.
