Soundtoys is giving away its PhaseMistress analog-style phase shifter plugin as a free download through November 15, 2024 (reg. $99).
November 1st marks the start of Black November, when there are many plugin deals and numerous free plugins. As a reminder, one of last year’s freebie highlights was the Soundtoys Little Plate reverb.
This year, another ST plugin is available for free for a limited time and is even better. Soundtoys announced giving away its PhaseMistress analog-style phaser plugin, regularly $99, as a free download through November 15, 2024.
Soundtoys PhaseMistress
PhaseMistress is an analog-style phase shifter effect plugin that captures the sounds of legendary hardware phasers, including the Bi-Phase, Boos Super Phaser, Moogerfooger 12 stage, and others.
The plugin offers a deeply tweakable phaser engine. First, you can customize the internal structure using one of the 69 different preset styles. These modify the engine from subtle 2-stage phasing to a wild 24-stage characteristic.
In the same section, you can tweak the phasing effect’s mix, frequency, resonance, and intensity to achieve your own phaser. These elements can also be tweaked even deeper in a drop-down menu.
Part of every phase shifter is a classic low-frequency oscillator that drives the effect. No worries, PhaseMistress also has one but Soundtoys has taken it further.
Soundtoys PhaseMistress offers multiple waveforms (sine, triangle, peak, ramp-up, etc.), giving you more movement flexibility. If that’s not enough, you can create your own waveforms in the shape editor.
In addition, you can replace the LFO with other modulator modes: rhythm with an editor, envelope follower, random, step sequencer, and ADSR envelope.
The envelope mode is interesting as it lets PhaseMistress respond to the dynamics of the incoming audio, making rhythm-triggered effects possible.
As an extra shaping bonus, you can work with seven analog-style flavored saturation algorithms: clean, hard clip, squash, dirt, crunch, shred, and pump.
Soundtoys ships the plugin with a wide range of ready-to-use presets sorted into nine categories with whom you can work directly.
First Impression
It’s a true no-brainer deal in my opinion. Not only is Soundtoys one of the high-end FX plugin developers, the plugin is also a very versatile phase shifter/phaser plugin that goes way beyond free phaser plugins. Don’t miss this limited time deal.
Soundtoys PhaseMistress is now available for free download through November 15, 2024 (reg. $99). It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel ) and Windows. It requires a hardware dongle or a free software iLok account for registration.
