discoDSP Discovery Pro 8.11 is a free update for 8 users, adding a new Supersaw oscillator algorithm, an improved gate sequencer, and more.
Following the substantial 8.10 update to Discovery Pro in November, discoDSP is releasing version 8.11, adding powerful new features.
Discovery Pro 8.11
A highlight is the addition of the Roland JP-8080-style supersaw algorithm with seven stacked sawtooth oscillators for massive trance leads and pads. This is available for both oscillators (1 & 2) with full unison compatibility for additional stereo width.
You can fully control, including the phase mode that gives you a random phase per note, like in the JP-8080 or a retriggered phase for consistent attack.
Then, you can work with a new oscilloscope waveform display that provides real-time stereo visualization with an LED glow effect and dynamic brightness. There is also a new master volume VU meter, modulation indicators, and more, providing additional visual feedback.
Another addition is a third panning mode: voice note panning mode. It positions notes in the stereo field based on the MIDI note number (low notes left, high notes right). You can add stereo movement to this with the rate controls that control a dynamic drift LFO.
Another highlight is an updated gate sequencer, which can retrigger notes. It has four states per step: off, gate, retrigger, and gate+retrigger. It’s fully customizable with independent editing modes.
Furthermore, Discovery Pro 8.11 benefits from arpeggiator improvements (gate retrigger now works better), workflow and performance enhancements, and optimizations.
An excellent end-of-year update, especially the Supersaw oscillator, which expands sound design possibilities. Update 8.11 is a free update for existing discoDSP Discovery Pro 8 users and is available on the official website.

As many probably know, the developers of The Usual Suspect offer a free emulator software (Nord Red 2x) for the Nord Lead 2 synthesizer. However, they weren’t the first to emulate it.
For many years, discoDSP has offered emulations of the Nord Lead 2 with its Discovery and Discovery Pro synthesizers, emulations that go significantly beyond the original. Discovery Pro is currently at version 8, and discoDSP released v8.10 today, making it even better.
discoDSP Discovery Pro 8 Update 8.10
As a reminder: discoDSP Discovery Pro 8 is a multi-layer virtual analog Synthesizer based on the Nord Lead 2 but with extra features, including SFZ, WAV, and SoundFont support, PADSynth re-synthesis, and extra filters.
discoDSP has further enhanced the engine with significant additions. The new update introduces 16x oversampling for offline bounce, giving you the maximum audio quality option to final renders with dedicated high-resolution delay buffers.
Then, you can now control which note plays when triggering chords in mono/legato mode. In the voices configuration pop-up, you can choose between five modes: Last Note (default), First Note, Lowest Note (ideal for bass), Highest Note (ideal for leads), and Random Note. This also works per-layer and has backward compatibility for existing presets.
Update 8.10 also introduces per-voice panning mode in the PAN preset menu, where each mode in a chord gets its own pan position based on individual velocity. This creates a natural stereo spread with each voice maintaining an independent LFO phase.
The filter pop-up menu now also features a new classic filters toggle. You can now select per-layer whether to use the modern or classic filter algorithms.
The Classic mode gives you more vintage character, while the modern provides a smoother sound and better stability. According to discoDSP, this affects the LP12, LP24, HP12, HP24, BP24, BR24, and Formant filters.
Discovery 8.10 also brings CPU optimizations, HiDPI display, and plugin platform improvements, including proper scaling, MIDI out support for the VST2/VST3 formats, and more.
Black Friday Sale
Alongside this news, retailers like Pluginfox launched a 40% OFF Black Friday sale on discoDSP plugins. For example, you can get Discovery Pro 8 for $119,40 instead of $199 or the stripped-down version Discovery for $59,40 instead of $99
This update 8.10 is free for existing discoDSP Discovery Pro 8 customers. It runs as a standalone software and as a VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux, and Windows.

sponsored? can’t understand dedicating this much effort talking about this synth. don’t know a soul that uses it. it never really sounded like a nord. (Moderation no personal attacks!)
not sponsored, just a news. If you follow Synth Anatomy, you know that I write my news very intensively.
