Xaoc Devices Zlin is a new 3HP small but versatile audio and CV crossfader module for Eurorack that can be used for various tasks.
Putting together a perfect modular system can take forever. Maybe that’s how it’s meant to be, because it’s simply fun. But once the foundation (oscillators, filters…) is complete, you’ll need to add utility modules, which shouldn’t be underestimated.
These add small functions to it, allowing for a great deal of flexibility—for example, the new Xaoc Devices Zlin module.

At the core of the new crossfader is a modern, high-quality dual VCA chip that delivers a wide dynamic range with low noise and distortion. Additionally, the module is DC-coupled, unlocking multiple duties.
First, it can be a crossfader for audio and CV signals. For example, you can use it to crossfade/morph smoothly between two signals. Great to achieve distinct waveform timbres.
Thanks to its VCA design, you can also use it as a linear VCA with an optional drone control or as a ducking VCA. A more creative use case is to turn it into a feedback controller.
A slider potentiometer with an illuminated LED provides visual feedback of the module’s state. Further, an auxiliary (AUX) jack with three selectable functions (sum in, copy out, or fader position CV) adds further flexibility for creative patching.
The developers describe the module as a tool perfect for any modular environment and the missing piece of the puzzle, greatly enhancing the creative potential of any system.
First Impression
A handy module that would find a place in any modular system. Because it has many applications and makes a system more versatile, flexible, and fun.
