Waldorf Quantum & Iridium: A new update, version 3.3.0, is now available and introduces MIDI 2.0 support, enhanced MPE support, and more.
The Waldorf Quantum and Iridium are powerful digital synthesizers that offer a range of synthesis forms. In the past years, the engine has been continually enhanced with new features. For example, with the Kernal modular FM synthesis.
At NAMM 2025, more than a year ago, Waldorf teased the support for MIDI 2.0. This is now available as a new free 3.3.0 update and it includes more than that.
Waldorf Quantum & Iridium
The new update 3.3.0 is out now and is compatible with all Waldorf Quantum and Iridium variants, including Quantum (MK1 & MK2), Iridium desktop, Keyboard, and Core.
A highlight of the new 3.3.0 update is MIDI 2.0 compatibility with high-resolution data support. This provides musicians with fine control over parameters, allowing for a more nuanced performance of the instrument.
Alongside the new MIDI 2.0, Waldorf also improved the MPE polyphonic pitch-bend behavior. Part of the update is also an improved sound browser with expanded favorite sets and author functions.
It’s also now possible to transfer sample content between the internal memory and the flash, as demonstrated in the linked video. That’s not all that the new OS 3.3.0 has on offer.
There are no major engine upgrades, but you can now use the release velocity as a modulation source. Additionally, new macros are available in the system. To conclude this update, it also includes other refinements.
First Impression
The Quantum and Iridium are both impressive digital synths. It’s great that they’re getting an update again after a hiatus. It’s exceptionally positive that the discontinued MKI isn’t excluded from this.
