Vongon Solarfaze is a new stereo 3-band saturator and detune/chorus pedal with full MIDI control and presets.

The largest customer group for effects pedals consists of guitarists. This is often evident in release videos specifically designed for guitarists. Synthesizer players also enjoy these small, addictive, and colorful boxes, even though they are often not primarily designed for them.

Companies like Vongon target both guitarists and synthesizer players with their pedals. This also applies to Vongon’s latest Solarfaze pedal.

The Solarfaze is a new stereo 3-band saturator and detune/chorus pedal, providing exact control over the frequency spectrum of your signal. The new Vongon Starflaze fits seamlessly into the design of its other very popular pedals, like the Polyphrase, Pharaphs II, and others.

The heart of the pedal is a 3-band Bass, Mid, and Treble saturation mixer with each section offering three levels of gain: Soft (0dB), Boost (+6dB), and Hard (+12dB).

Each band can be fine-tuned to one of five different frequencies, making this pedal as versatile as you are. Soft-clipping waveshapers are part of the saturation mixer, providing a smooth transition from subtle warmth to heavy breakup.

Then, you have the detune section, which allows you to add movement and interest to your signal. It’s a stereo detune chorus with independent left/right pitch shifts.

There are two main adjustable controls: amount and mix. Adjust them to your taste, and you can effectively control the stereo field or even satisfy your binaural sonic needs.

Additionally, it features an envelope control for dynamic expression that is tailored to your playing style. It’s also possible to adjust the size to create a smoother or tighter detune effect.

Other features include a built-in noise gate and an effect rerouting option. It allows you to easily route the saturation into the detune or vice versa.

On the connection side, it features a stereo input and output (2x 6.35mm mono jacks each), a 9V DC power input, and a TRS MIDI input for MIDI CC parameter control. MIDI also handles the nine preset storage.

First Impression

A great-sounding saturation and detune pedal that can add a beautiful analog character (wobbly, crunch…)  to any Synthesizer.

Vongon Solarfaze is available now for $449.

  1. $449 for digital saturation? I’m good thanks.

Last three Vongon releases have been a miss for me. Wish they’d put in the work and do something analog.

  2. Vongon poetry, is considered to be the worst in the galaxy. This box, sounds pretty cool tho! Sounds as if they put in the work, Tweed! Where’s ‘your’ work? We hope you’re actually wearing tweed, and it isn’t just a clever name:)
