SchneidersKeller is a new modular synth store in London that brings Berlin’s Schneiderladen experience and passion to the UK.
Andreas Schneider’s SchneidersLaden in Berlin is an institution in the modular synth world. Located initially at Kottbusser Tor and now in the new, larger space at Karl-Marx-Straße 186, it attracts many people worldwide every year.
It’s not just a random synth store in Berlin but also a place where musicians can come together and share their passion for modular synthesizers. Today, Berlin is in London.
After various pop-up concepts (Test Salon…) with a direction phone connection to Berlin, SchneidersLaden has now taken the next big step into the London community and opened SchneidersKeller today.
SchneidersKeller
SchneidersKeller is a new, more modular synth store created in collaboration between Schneidersladen and Rough Trade in Rough trade in Denmark Street in central London.
As the German name “Keller” suggests, the team rented the basement area in the Rough Trade record store, where they put a lot of effort into building a cozy, unique synth store.
SchneidersKeller is run by two well-known faces from the synth community. Jean-Marcel Fricke, live musician and son of the late legendary synth developer Manfred Fricke and Edd Butterworth.
Edd is a former London Modular employee and works as a cameraman at trade shows for Sonic State. Anyone who has watched the Eurorack-focused videos from Sonic State’s coverages in the past will recognize the voice.
SchneidersKeller will offer a carefully curated selection of Synthesizers and modular systems. The shop doesn’t provide the entire portfolio of Schneidersladen, but it does offer free delivery and a pickup option on Denmark Street for modules ordered from Berlin.
With the launch of this showroom and physical store, SchneidersKeller is planned to serve as the final link for orders from Berlin to UK customers, providing local support and free delivery—either straight to customers’ doors or available for pickup on Denmark Street. The store will also host monthly workshops, talks, and other in-store events, which will be made available online as well.

I wish Jean-Marcel and Edd all the best for the project, as well as the entire SchneidersLaden team. Whenever I’m in London, I’ll visit the store. Unfortunately, that will take a while.
The new SchneidersKeller will be open from Wednesday to Saturday from 12 pm to 7 pm. This weekend (March 21 – 23), it will be open from 12 pm to 7 pm and on Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
