Ujam UFX Reverb 2 is the second version of its reverb + multi-FX plugin with new algorithms, more effects, a dual mode, and more.
Last September, the German plugin company Ujam gave away the UFX Reverb for the whole month. Seeing the clicks on the article, there was a lot of interest in the plugin and the campaign.
And now, shortly before the end of the year, Ujam has released the UFX Reverb 2, the second generation of its reverb plugin. It bundles all new algorithms, more creative Finishers, and more features. Good: there is an affordable upgrade for Reverb 1 users.
“UFX Reverb sparked incredible engagement from our users, with many of the new features in Version 2 directly inspired by their feedback. These additions make a big difference, more than doubling the creative possibilities of this reverb,” said Peter Gorges, Co-Founder of UJAM.
Ujam UFX Reverb 2
Like the previous version, UFX Reverb 2 is a creative algorithmic reverb plugin with a built-in multi-FX processor. There are many new features to discover, but it remains just as easy and intuitive to use.
Version 2 ships with all ten original reverb modes: basic (universal), room, hall, plate, spring, digital (early 80s), 80s, warm, gated, and reverse. In addition to the original, it includes ten new algorithms to explore, including:
- Drum Room: optimal for drums
- Courtyard: outdoor echo-y reverb
- Scoring Stage: warm orchestral ambiance
- Parking Garage: large concrete garage
- Vocal Ice: frozen vocal ambiance
- Gigathedral: larger-than-life cathedral
- Gated Freeze: cut-off freeze mode
- Shimmer: classic shimmer reverb
- Fat Shimmer: shimmer plus low octave
- Long Reverse: longer version of the original Reverse reverb
In Ujam UFX Reverb 2, you can also tweak each algorithm in detail with various parameters available in two sections: dimension and character.
It also comes with a new early reflections parameter in the dimension section. It provides precise spatial definitions for vocals and percussion. Another major new feature is the dual mode that enables a second reverb engine for even bigger, richer sounds.
The original plugin’s creative features were the filtering and one-knob multi-FX sections, aka Finisher, which transform the reverbs into unique effects. Version 2 offers 15 additional filters (Filter Sweep, env filter, bandpass reso, highpass reso, reso comb…) and 40 new finishers.
Among the new finishers, you can find new grain, glitch, and motion effects: a soft saturation distortion, raindrops (random pitches), Vodoo Glitchcraft, and more.
Further, a new FX input mix function allows you to feed the dry signal into the filter and finisher sections, turning the reverb FX into a multi-FX processor. To showcase the new features, it also includes 100 new high-quality presets.
First Impression
A solid, comprehensive upgrade for the Ujam UFX Reverb. Version 1 was already convincing. I’m sure version 2 is on the same level but more versatile and flexible. Okay, it’s not a free update but 19€ is a very fair, affordable upgrade price as it comes with plenty of new algorithms, Finishers, and more.
Ujam UFX Reverb 2 is available now for an introductory price of 39€ instead of 49€. You can upgrade from Reverb 1 for an intro price of 19€ or crossgrade for 29€ from any Ujam product. It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
