A track usually consists of different elements. In order to bring these together fluently, one builds musical bridges or so-called transitions. These are mostly small pieces or sound effects that lead from one element to the next. Many musicians use samples/loops from the library for this or build them themselves with various plugins. Many producers have here for templates. There’s an easier way, says Baby Audio.

The developers of the BA-1 synthesizer have teamed up with YouTuber and musician Andrew Huang, to create a new plugin that enables everyone to design unique transitions. They say it’s the “ultimate transition designer”.

Transit is a creative semi-modular transition designer plugin but also a powerful multi-effects processor at the same time. It’s designed to create unique transitions between song parts to keep listeners engaged and excited. Many music producers use large plugin chains for this. Different here.

Baby Audio and Andrew Huang’s new plugin takes care of this alone. It puts everything in one place, simplifies the workflow, and saves resources.

Transit’s core consists of 18 flexible effect modules that are freely loadable across seven slots. It includes modulation effects, distortion and degradation options, motion FX, reverb, filters, delay, and sound generators like oscillators and noise. Each of the algorithms is fine-tuned for transition design and offers built-in preset storage.

These effects can be controlled in the classic way as multi-FX or with the transition control module, aka the transition generator. It’s an automatable macro controller with visual feedback on which various parameters can be mapped. This runs through a predefined number of effects and thus generates the transitions, slower or faster, depending on how you set it.

Motion Sequencer & Clever Randomization

Besides the macro controller mode, Transit also hosts a motion sequencer allowing you to create transitions synced to your DAW. In this case, each transition will start exactly at the next bar. This unlocks new creative options not only for music productions but also for live use.

The sequencer has a unique loop mode comparable to a wild LFO tool. Once activated, it will pulse back and forth indefinitely.

Baby Audio has also made sure not to go uninspired. If you get stuck with the amount of effects, it comes with over 300 ready-to-use presets. Alternatively, you can dive into the deep randomization engine. Individual modules or the entire signal chain can be randomized here. Clever, you can also set filters to lock certain areas from this process.

Transit can be used to create for example evolving build-ups, drops, motion effects, risers, and sweeps. Elements that make your music more exciting and unique.

First Impression

Baby Audio and Andrew Huang have developed an exciting, smart FX plugin for transitions here. Huge plugin chains are history, with this one you only need one. And that makes it quick and easy-to-use.

Baby Audio Transit is available now for an introductory price of $59 instead of $99 (40% OFF). It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (Intel + native Apple Silicon) and Windows.

  1. Tornado from like 27 years ago with the super convoluted interface? I remember using that, just not for long. Transit is really good, nice, simple and powerful. Got it when they released it for desktop and instantly went looking for it on mobile cause Baby audio does cross-platform plugins. So this is a blessing to have it on ipad with all my ipad auv3’s.

Oder was meinst du genau?

      • genau. ich meinte macrocontrol via midi. is the same
job, aber du kannst vorhandene plugins nutzen. babyaudio ist ok. der preis mir persönlich aber zu hoch. zw. 5 und 33€ ist aber noch eine größe lücke 😉
anyway, wünsche den entwicklern viel erfolg.
