ROLI, the inventors of the Seaboard, teases that the “most requested instrument returns on November 1st, 2023, a Seaboard Rise or Block comeback?

In 2021, ROLI filed for bankruptcy and rebooted as a beginner-focused company, Luminary. With the renewed RISE 2, the British company returned to the market in 2022.

So far, the new ROLI offers two hardware products: the ROLI Rise 2 and the LUMI. A third will be added on November 1st.

ROLI November Release

In a short press release, ROLI teases a new product on November 1, 2023. In this, they say: “the reintroduction of the most requested ROLI instrument ever – now upgraded and re-engineered!”.

The Seaboard Rise is available in a new version, and a comeback of the original Seaboard I don’t see coming. So, we will see a revised version of the Seaboard Block—the cheapest way ($299/£279/329€ v1 2016) to enter the Seaboard world.

If the ROLI Seaboard Block really makes a comeback, then it will be exciting to see how it differs from the previous version. New features? Keybed improvement?

Plus, it will also be interesting to see whether ROLI can maintain the price of $299 or offer it cheaper. As prices are currently developing, I think with a bit of luck it will have the same level or higher. But pure speculation.

The new ROLI product will be launched on November 1st, 2023. Stay tuned for the full news.

  1. A roli block with CV and Midi out would be pretty neat. I couldn’t quite get used to the linnstrument.

Really depends on what the price is on release though.
